I spent the better part of 5 hours in a discussion with my children. The topic, how will they feed their families if the system collapses?
COVID killed our interstate trucking and normal day to day routine movement of supplies and foods. Shelves were bare and no food or other supplies were readily available at your local stores. Today there are threats from every wacko environmentalist that they are going to shut everything down. Gas, Oil, Coal, every means of making plastics and medications. They are directly attacking our trucking industry. SO, the question is very relevant for today. How are we going to feed and protect our families should these extremists attack us and how will we protect ourselves from these people? Third world countries now have the ability to strike the US and render our vehicles useless with an EMP (Electro Magnetic Pulse).
Not only are we having to look at the left-wing extremists, but we also have to look at natural causes from our sun. IF we suffered another Carrington Event (direct hit from a solar CME) it could do as it did back then and melt our power grid, just as it did with the telegraph lines that were turned to molten steel and started fires across the plains of the US. People do not realize that a hit like this would kill the ability to refrigerate food and transport it as well. Your local stores 3-day supply of food would be gone in 24 hours as people fight over the scraps. Electricity and your internet would be gone. Cell phones would be useless.
Cites would tear themselves apart and roving gangs would go looking for food to steal. People just do not realize how fast our society would devolve. The government will be of no use as they will be trying to keep their own chain of command and the US government functioning. You will be on your own for weeks if not months.
The time to plan is now while you can still learn how to can and store foods without refrigeration. The art of gardening and other day to day ways of preparing foods and storing them need to be relearned today. This was not lost on my grandkids who thought about it and wondered how they would survive. Now even they are asking how do we do this? The sad part is most adults today couldn't do any of this. Many have no idea where meats come from or how to get it and process it.
WE here in the US have much to be thankful for. We must not become complacent, and we cannot allow our government to set us up to fail as Biden and Democrats are doing today.
