No 10 says Falklands sovereignty rests with UK after report of US 'review'

An internal Pentagon document reportedly raised the prospect of a change in position in retaliation for the UK not joining the Iran war.

Sovereignty of the Falkland Islands "rests with the UK", Downing Street has said, following a report the US could review its position on Britain's claim to the territory.

An internal Pentagon email reported by Reuters suggested the US was considering options to punish Nato allies it believed failed to support its war on Iran

This is a bit petty, stamping of feet, grinding of teeth, pouting sort of behaviour.

Hitting out like this is showing that a superpower is treating its allies as a vassal state. It’s not good diplomacy.

We have GCHQ The finest foreign intelligence listening post in the world. Trump needs to assess the damage he could bring to its own intelligence service if we played tit for tat?

Trump does tend to throw things out there to see where they land, but England needs to step up to the plate on some things if it wants to remain an ally in good standing. The world is changing and the changes might be surprising.

One must remember Starmer is in charge. The Labour Party is a friend to all muslims and Palestinians, Starmer is a fervent disciple of Jeremy Corbyn’s doctrine and lectures. This is not the fault of thd British voter, it was hoodwinked by a liar. He got in power because Tories simply forgot that they worked for the electorate. If this was in Roman times there would have been a tidal wave of riots.

Sadly, that has been turned inward onto the UK citizens... The UK is fast becoming a facist control state.

                  sadly that is true!

The problem is taxation, the British government still has ideas of the U.K. punching its old weight in the world, that needs money and resources. The easiest way is to control the population in every way. Something is going to snap very soon, this totally corrupt government is on a death wish.

It is particularly stinging when an Allie that you bled and died for in their time of need does not support you in your time of need. Iran is trying to build nuclear tipped ICBMs. Now we have discovered that they have ballistic missiles that can reach London. You would think the UK needs to wake up and smell the coffee. If Iran is willing to shoot missiles at their "friends" in the middle east they would be happy to drop a nuclear tipped missile in London. Personally I think the Falklands should stay with whomever the people of the Falklands want to be governed by. But I do think the UK screwed up in a very big way.

The British public supports the US, it’s the socialist party government that went against our special relationship. The Labour Party will never be re elected ever again j assure you!

You actually think the US depends on the UK more than the UK depends on the US? Interesting view point.

Five Eyes, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States is an alliance of intelligence services that has been in place since WWII. It would be stupid to break it up.

Sure, trade between the UK and the US makes up a large chunk of the British economy but the UK would survive without it. It can take a hit. In other aspects, the UK is a mature country that can take care of itself. Keep in mind, they’ve been around longer than the US. They know how it’s done

I was under the impression that the UK is in huge trouble with its economy and immigration.
