    Al or Not Al

I get some reads from the FTC, aka : CONsumer Alerts...

How to spot a CAPTCHA scam

    By BCP Staff

The FTC is getting reports about a new phishing scam that looks a lot like the CAPTCHA requests you might be used to seeing. Real CAPTCHAs give you image- or text-based tasks to prove you’re not a robot — something like typing letters and numbers exactly as they appear, or matching pictures of things like fire hydrants or traffic lights. Here’s how the fake CAPTCHA requests happen…and how you could wind up installing malware on your own device.

I read this report for IT-security-personnel today early AM...there are solutions...

Phishing has always been a numbers game. AI has turned it into a volume machine.
Attackers can now create convincing emails, fake login pages, and tailored lures in minutes.

We have become so accustomed to these "click here to prove your human" points that most won't even think twice before clicking on them. More issues of human behavior being exploited.

This site only uses photos. IF you get anything else report it to me.

That FTC notification is a bit on the late side. Just from a glitchy memory, I remember an alert on this; but not remembering how long ago. In fact, as my slow brain works on this I think I remember I posted something about this on some site. Maybe a tech site.

Wait, I think I remember; it was NHK that did a heads-up about this. That is the BBC style media outfit here in Japan.

And now I just did a check and this IS old news. Just stick "fake captcha" into your search engine. Seems this news is about a year old.

Yep, shows 13 hours ago in this screen grab. But there are older ones showing, too:
