Trump said Friday his administration had “cleaned, renovated, and beautified over 45 Monuments and Memorials, 28 Statues, and 22 Fountains in Washington, DC,” but added that there had been “real problems with Vandalism” at the Reflecting Pool. He said individuals had damaged grass outside the pool and tried to harm the newly installed inside surface.

“Just like three days ago, they destroyed the grass outside of the Pool, they’ve also done everything possible to hurt the inside surface that was just installed,” Trump wrote. “No different than the chemicals that were used on the National Mall, they used something similar in the Reflecting Pool to try to destroy and demean our beautiful work.”

The United States Park Police have arrested multiple individuals for vandalizing our Nations magnificent Reflecting Pool. Who would do such a thing? To expand on this, I have also done work sanitizing pools even very large ones which is why I know this man knows what he is talking about.

He added that the Reflecting Pool’s algae can be attributed to several factors, including insufficient sanitizer (chlorine) in the water, improper circulation, filtration pumps not running long enough, clogged filters, or filtration equipment not working properly.

“These are the main reasons why [the] pool is green. The sanitizer level needs to be raised to kill existing algae. Algae is a living growing plant. The sanitizer suppresses and kills it,” Orefice explained.

As far as the peeling goes, Orefice surmises that the administration did not allow the paint to “dry long enough or didn’t use the right paint to paint over the existing paint.” But in an extreme case, the pool’s

But these pipes often break and leak. The National Park Service has said their plastic walls fail under pressure from the surrounding soil.”

It appears that vandalism isn't the big problem it is the poor design and maintenance of the pool is the real problem. The circulating pipes should be METAL or Schedule 80 grade to make it strong enough to handle the stress.
