The regional fire departments have created a four acer area so the general public can light off their fire works. The cities have pooled their money and created a huge firework show for the whole county. Our neighborhood is having a parade, fireworks. Food truck, and car show. We will watch the parade and fireworks.
We are in a small housing area out in the country about 5 miles from any town. The town nearest to us allows fireworks in peoples' yards....anywhere. Houses are widely spaced but we will still keep an eye on our roof.
Our cat is old, deaf, and doesn't care.
When we lived in Washington we went down to the bay and there was a public fireworks display off a barge. We will be visiting Normandy on the 4th. I wish we had the time and energy bandwidth to visit Utah, Gold, Sword, and Juno beaches, but we’re “just” visiting Omaha Beach.
Growing up, my parents and our neighbors (my aunt, uncle, and 2 sons) bought “Safe and Sane” fireworks in town. We lived 6 miles out of town and our nearest neighbors were a quarter of half a mile away. We lit off the fireworks in a disced area (no dry weeds) and had buckets of water for the spent “fountains”. Grilled burgers and dogs and potato salad in the evening before it got dark enough to set off the fireworks.Comment

Growing up we used to buy the old Black cat fireworks. The M50 and a few other larger items. We blew up a lot of mailboxes back then. Do that today and you go to jail. All the things we used to do as kids.

How can you tell if someone is a red neck?
It is illegal to shoot fire works in town so they just go out on their porch and shoot their gun.

We will be heading up the hill to stay at the RV park to get away from the fireworks going off that freaks our pooch out. I know people that give their dogs tranquilizers, but I prefer to just get her away from them so she's not stressing out at all. Would definitely hang around for the show if we didn't have her.Comment

Our family dog, a German Shepherd Mut, would hear a firework go off on July 3 and would disappear until July 5. I was able to follow him one year. There was a house down the street that had a huge opening in foundation and access to the crawl space. I tried to get him to come out and he wouldn't. I told my parents about it and they decided that they could let him come in the house over the 4th. Fireworks really did upset him.
