130 Mph Winds in Nebraska... Wind generators failed..

Boy you can't make this stuff up. One supercell laid waste to a whole range of wind turbines.

‼️ STORM DAMAGE - HIGHMORE HIGH WINDS

A supercell storm system developed in the far Northern Nebraska Panhandle, which spread in the early morning hours around 5:00 AM in Highmore, South Dakota. A Civil Emergency was declared with an urgent no-travel directive in effect until 5:00 PM this evening.

Historic wind speeds reached 130 miles per hour, according to Mesonet readings, resulting in extensive damage, including overturned mobile homes, downed power lines, and damaged wind turbines, as depicted in the accompanying images.

Public Information: The supercell remains active and is currently located near Duluth, Minnesota.

Even mother nature doesn't like those damn things! Folded them over like flowers in a flower bed. Intermittent and worthless at power generation because they create instability in the grid. I guess this is a quick way to get rid of them.

In NW IN, there are widespread places through there along I-65 that have these things. On our drives up to the Milwaukee area, they are along the flat ground and corn/soybean fields. We spot the ones that are not turning or damaged. We have seen about 10% in a more recent trip.

Here in Southern IN, you are more likely to see fields with solar panels that are used to power grain drying bins and other farm related energy needs. I believe those to be more efficient with some pay toward energy costs but they do have to sacrifice land for it.
