So, Our local school system is doing the following today so that the teachers can go protest at the statehouse in INDY for more public school funding. Who else has a job that allows this?

Apparently, their are a couple of bills up that allows for poorer school districts to steal property tax from others. So, I guess that means that our property taxes are going to increase to make up for this. Linked article below.

The reason that the local school system sees this as a threat is because they have some of the highest property taxes in the State of IN. If you look at the red/blue county map, this county is the only blue one in the Southern part of the state. There is no tax too high for them. Property tax tends to run 5 to 10 times higher than neighboring counties that have adequately funded school systems. I think that this is a ploy by the Republican controlled State Legislature to make the blue counties moderate their property taxes that are much higher than red counties. But that's just my opinion. They have been used to taxing the locals at ever increasing property taxes with no real justification with respect to actually improving education .
